Television characters have chaotic and busy lives. Whether they need to save the world, solve crimes or just keep their loved ones happy these go-getters are always working. They never have time for a break, let alone a vacation.

Related: Watch Real Lives, Real Stories, & Real Celebrities on Reelz Channel via Prime Video Channels!

These hustlers deserve appreciation and day off. At least one day where the pressures of the world are not entirely on their shoulders.

Here are 21 television busy bees that are always engrossed with work and never have time to themselves. Find out if your favorite made the list.

1. Danny Reagan (Blue Bloods)

Danny reagan on the job
Danny is one overloaded detective and father. He comes home after serving two tours in Iraq and goes straight to working as a police officer again. Danny has to deal with the death of his wife and losing his house in a fire. If anyone deserves a beach vacation it’s Danny.

2. Sherlock Holmes (Elementary)

Sherlock in thought elementary s3e12
Seriously, when does this man sleep? Overnight, this consulting detective is able to analyze countless clues, come up with a genius new lead for the investigation, and still has time to wake Watson with a gourmet breakfast.

3. Olivia Benson (Law & Order SVU)

A teenager disappears law and order svu
Olivia is an NYPD Lieutenant in charge of Manhattan’s Special Victim Unit. Benson has had to cope with many life-threatening and emotional challenges throughout her career. Benson deserves some time off but we all know New York could not survive without her. Dun Dun.

4. Leslie Knope (Parks and Recreation)

Leslie knope parks and recreation
Leslie has more energy, drive, and focus than anyone else in Pawnee. Some might say it is because she has a diet that consists mostly of sugary, whipped cream, but in truth, it is because she cares. She wants the best for her city and friends. Leslie never gives up even if the citizens of Pawnee don’t appreciate her.

5. Mona Vanderwaal (Pretty Little Liars)

Mona vanderwaal pretty little liars
Mona isn't your typical high-school student. She is able to stalk and torture before becoming a victim herself, all while maintaining a perfect GPA. Oh, she was also able to win AD's game and set up her own dollhouse in Paris. Maybe she will get a well-deserved break when The Perfectionists airs in 2019, but I wouldn't bet on it.

6. Wile E. Coyote (Looney Tunes)

Wile e coyote
Since 1949, this poor coyote has been in constant pursuit of the Road Runner. All of his traps backfire usually resulting in Wile E. Coyote being blown up or falling off a cliff. After 69 years, this guy deserves a sabbatical.

Best Bets on Broadcast: Fall 2018 Weeknight Breakdown

$
0
0

There was a time when all the best new shows debuted during the fall.

That's not the case any longer, as networks know the perils of doing business against the greatest love in the United States of America: Football.

There aren't a lot of changes to the upcoming schedule, but we have your best bets for each night of the week whether they are new series, returning shows, or just hits on the move.

Weeknight Breakdown

Sunday

Sunday nights are always a mess thanks to football. NBC will have Sunday Night Football, and CBS will suffer delays.

If you're in the US, expect local markets to scrub away the newly installed CW programming to show your local football teams, instead. That won't do a lot for the ratings of your favorite shows and might make it difficult for CW Sundays to get off the ground.

Earthquake - Supergirl Season 3 Episode 23

Thankfully, there isn't a lot we at TV Fanatic deal with when it comes to broadcast on Sundays.

The 8/7c timeslot will be attractive with Supergirl on The CW. For those that didn't watch Kevin (Probably) Saves the World, you might be interested in God Friended Me on CBS, a series along the same vein with a feel-good message about looking out for others instead of yourself.

Related: The Good Doctor Shocker: Another Series Regular Departs!

It's not bad, but I'm retaining a bitter taste in my mouth from everyone who failed to tune into Kevin.

At 9/8c, Charmed will attempt to conjure some magic off the back of Supergirl on The CW and going up against NCIS: Los Angeles on sister network CBS isn't the easiest competition in the world.

A GIF Captured from The CW's Charmed Teaser

While Charmed apparently fared well at the SDCC screening, it's a younger-skewing reboot of the franchise and those expecting more grown-up fare might be disappointed.

Best bets for TV Fanatics: Supergirl and NCIS: Los Angeles followed by Madam Secretary at 10/9 on CBS.

Monday

Monday nights are chock full of entertainment for TV Fanatics. If you don't have a DVR, you will want to get one. I don't know about you, but it's not easy subscribing to all of the streamers to get everything I want when I want it.

The 8/7c timeslot is hot with Legends of Tomorrow on The CW and The Resident on Fox. Both are excellent, and it's a tough call.

They're Back! - The Resident Season 2 Episode 1

There are not two shows, but three in contention when 9/8c rolls around, and I'm still not counting The Voice or Dancing with the Stars because we're more into scripted here.

The new Magnum P.I. debuts, and as a girl who grew up with the original, I can recommend the reboot. The key to reboots is casting and creating a new dynamic within that family.

Related: Kelly Clarkson Talk Show a Go at NBC - Will It Replace Days of Our Lives?

Magnum hits the nail on the head with this group, and Perdita Weeks as the new female Higgins is one of the biggest draws. Magnum may be the name of the show, but his buddies, including Happy Endings alum Zachary Knighton as Rick, help Jay Hernandez connect with the audience in the titular role.

Fox's breakout 9-1-1 begins its sophomore season with Jennifer Love Hewitt on board, and as one of the most exciting shows on TV, I can't wait for it to return.

Arrow Season 7 Poster

Arrow moves to a new night (again) for a season that is expected to be dark and gritty like no other. With a new showrunner on board, this may be the first time we can expect that to be true.

At 10/9c NBC debuts Manifest, one of the shows predicted to give viewers a "Lost" sensation, complete with an airline as the cherry on top. It's against 2017-18 hit The Good Doctor and Bull. They're a toss-up.

Best bets for TV Fanatics: The Resident, 9-1-1, and a take a chance on Manifest at 10/9c.

Tuesday

Tuesdays are a bit easier to recommend and predict.

At 8/7c on The CW is The Flash, and it's always been a Fanatic favorite. There is no indication this season will be any different, although it airs opposite NCIS and The Gifted.

That Look - This Is Us Season 3 Episode 1

At 9/8c behemoth, This Is Us returns on NBC with a season exploring the beginning of Rebecca and Jack's relationship, as well as Jack's time in Vietnam and the introduction of his brother. It's going to be an intense and romantic season.

Nobody is going to want to watch Lethal Weapon on Fox without Clayne Crawford's Riggs, but fans will be in for more Black Lightning on The CW.

Related: Julie Chen Exits The Talk: Watch Her Emotional Goodbye

On CBS Missy Peregrym stars as an agent and Sela Ward joined in a last-minute casting change on FBI. Sandwiched between two of the NCIS franchise shows, it could be one to watch.

At 10/9c there are two new shows up against NCIS: New Orleans including NBC's New Amsterdam about a rogue Chief of Staff at a NYC hospital who wants to do a lot of good starring Ryan Eggold, and The Rookie, about an older newbie on the police force who is very gung-ho.

Out of the Academy - The Rookie

With Nathan Fillion in the lead, you know it's going to have a lot of fans tuning in to see what he can do with it.

While both pilots were interesting, New Amsterdam was the more compelling of the two even with a crowded field of medical shows on the air. It's hard to imagine how long Fillion can maintain his rookie status given what we see of his first day.

Best bets for TV Fanatics: The Flash, This Is Us, and New Amsterdam.

Wednesday

This is an interesting night with the launch of Chicago Wednesdays. It's the first time all three series -- Chicago Med, Chicago Fire, and Chicago P.D. -- will air back to back on the same night for a full season.

One Chicago

It is great for fans to stay in the same world for an evening, but it might be challenging to keep the stories in sync, as they haven't always been in lockstep as you'd expect.

With the heightened success of P.D. of late, it will be interesting to see if people are more apt to tune into the earlier broadcasts to get to P.D. if they're all airing together.

Related: Grey's Anatomy Poster: 15 Seasons of Feels!

While Empire and Star will be airing back to back on Fox from 8-10 ET, Riverdale remains at 8/7c on The CW with Archie facing prison time and leads into All American, a football and "other side of the tracks" drama starring Taye Diggs that is quite good.

The Three Musketeers - A Million Little Things Season 1 Episode 1

At 10/9c, ABC's answer to This Is Us begins airing. A Million Little Things is more like a modern day The Big Chill, with established, close friendships and all the secrets that come along with them. The cast is fabulous, and the pilot episode felt oh, so short in comparison to the long wait for what comes next.

Best bets for TV Fanatics: Riverdale, All American, and A Million Little Things.

Thursday

Thursdays have a little something for everyone, whether it's the final season of The Big Bang Theory, the return of Murphy Brown, the spinoff of The Originals or the 20th Season of Law & Order: SVU.

Gossip Queens - Grey's Anatomy Season 15 Episode 1

More importantly, at 8/7c Grey's Anatomy returns on ABC and that's what the doctor ordered for TV Fanatics! Supernatural on The CW is another favorite for those not into soaps, and Jensen Ackles will play a new character as Michael has overtaken Dean.

Legacies takes flight on The CW after Supernatural, and the two shows should be well paired. Nobody wanted The Originals to end, and some returning favorites from The Vampire Diaries will put some salve on the wound that remains. As long as the universe is active, there is Hope. See what I did there?

Related: Grace Park: I Quit Hawaii Five-0 Because...

There is no competition at 10 for the Fanatics, as Law & Order: SVU and S.W.A.T. will lose to How to Get Away with Murder in our world.

Best bets for TV Fanatics: Grey's Anatomy, Legacies, How to Get Away with Murder.

Friday

Friday is date night, so only the homebodies are going to be in watching TV. That would be me.

Dynasty Poster

The action lovers will be tuned into either NBC or CBS from 8-10, and those looking for a little drama and romance will take to The CW for Dynasty and Crazy Ex-Girlfriend.

I imagine a split with Blindspot and Hawaii Five-0 carrying the action lovers, and those who enjoy the supernatural tuning into Midnight, Texas at 9/8c on NBC.

Last Man Standing and The Cool Kids will make a stand on Fox in the 8/7c hour as LMS is a much-anticipated return, and The Cool Kids is very funny with some of the greatest comics of generations on board. Don't rule it out because it isn't cast with youngsters.

LMS Fox 1

At 10/9c, there is only one scripted program with Blue Bloods, and it dominates. Dateline and 20/20 excite those of us who thrive on real-life mysteries.

Best bets for TV Fanatics: Dynasty, Hawaii Five-0, Blue Bloods.

NCIS: Los Angeles Season 10 Episode 1 Review: To Live And Die In Mexico

So, was last season just a dream? Should we have had Chris O'Donnell coming out of a shower?

Much of what most viewers didn't like about NCIS: Los Angeles Season 9 seemed well on its way to being undone on NCIS: Los Angeles Season 10 Episode 1.

And that's fine with me. The thing most worth retaining from last season was Sam's moving onto a boat with his own guard sea lion. The SEAL living on the water was just so appropriate.

Things Go Wrong - NCIS: Los Angeles Season 10 Episode 1

Let's address the biggest problem from last season -- Mosley.

Sure, the idea was to shake up the comfortable team dynamic at the Office of Special Projects, under Hetty's benevolent rule.

But that direction stems from the rather specious logic that there was something wrong with the status quo. You want to change things up, do it like on NCIS: Los Angeles Season 8, during Daniela Ruah's maternity leave. That way, it's short-term, and it's not open-ended.

Related: NCIS: Los Angeles Season Finale Review: Ninguna Salida

I get that's what happened in essence during Hetty's Vietnam odyssey last season. But when they brought in a new director who was making change for change sake, it just didn't feel organic. Plus, when Hetty returned, Mosley needed to disappear.

But she didn't. And to make matters worse, she rubbed Hetty's nose in her authority every chance she got. At least Granger came around after a while.

Yes, the team learned about Mosley's private pain and cut her some slack as a result. Mosley did come around to the OSP way for doing things, at times. But too often she was just trying to prove she was in charge.

The real crime was that Sam, Callen, Kensi, and Deeks wouldn't have even been in Mexico in they hadn't been on an unsanctioned mission to rescue Mosley's son Derrick from his gunrunner father on NCIS: Los Angeles Season 9 Episode 24.

And Hidoko would still be alive.

I didn't mind Hidoko. Unlike her boss, she learned how to fit into the team, in whatever role she got. Her fatal flaw was being too supportive of her mentor despite Mosley's obsession.

Related: Watch NCIS: Los Angeles Online: Season 9 Episode 23

Every member of the team had suffered a loss, so of course, they headed south, with no plan and little resources or support, to find Derrick and return him to his mother.

That they did. They just couldn't pull off another escape against overwhelming odds from unfamiliar territory.

At least they got a little help from Aldo Turk, although I kept expecting him to do more. The dog-in-the-duffle trick paid off, in the short term. Then he went away until the quartet took their separate journeys to the hospital and he met up with them again.

One big plus was that Deeks and Kensi became Densi again. Kensi's struggle to keep Deeks alive long enough for him to get help certainly put them back on the right track. Maybe we'll soon be back to hearing wedding plans again.

Was it obvious the former priest and his wife weren't the good Samaritans they claimed to be? Yeah. Fortunately, Kensi picked up on that fact in time to overcome both of them and race Deeks to the help he needed.

Related: 21 Hard-Working Characters

Why was Kensi the last team member standing? Because she's the biggest bad-ass of the bunch.

Sam and Callen's friendship shone through again, as each struggled through their injuries to try to find help for each other. Granted, they ended up being saved by a boy whose English was better than he let on. But Sam did perform the surgery to release that trapped air from Callen.

Mosley ultimately saved the day, by shooting Spencer and a couple of his thugs. That was the only way that Derrick was ever going to be safe, anyway, was if Spencer was dead.

Although she was absent, Hetty's touch was felt throughout. She's why Admiral Kilbride showed up, the latest in her long line of former colleagues to help out.

She was also the one who arranged for the NCIS team to show up at the hospital with an evac chopper. Better late than never, I guess.

Related: Get CBS All Access via Amazon Channels for Hit Shows, Exclusive Originals & Live TV!

I vote for Admiral Kilbride to take over OSP. You can't go wrong with Gerald McRaney playing a character who is large and in charge. I'd love to see more interaction between Kilbride and the meerkats in Ops.

I would have to think this was what was necessary to get rid of Mosley for good. She not only broke policy, but she also broke laws and got an agent killed and three others severely injured. It's time to retire.

I doubt it will be that easy, but one can hope.

Did everyone survive the "dead or alive" bounty?

That was revealed on NCIS: Los Angeles Season 10 Episode 1 which found Callen, Sam, and Kensi on the run in a place where they have no idea where to hide.

With the rest of the team in the U.S., there was a big decision about how they could assist their associates.

Meanwhile, neighboring countries were not all that enthused about helping out their U.S. counterparts.

NCIS: Los Angeles Star Opens Up About Stunning Departure

Special Agent Harley Hidoko (Andrea Bordeaux) is out.

After questions about her whereabouts, fans learned on NCIS: Los Angeles Season 10 Episode 1 that the character who went missing had been killed off.

Her remains were found in Mexico, according to Nell, who is somber following the mission to save Shay Mosley's son.

NCIS Departure 3

Hidoko's fate was left up in the air on NCIS: Los Angeles Season 9 Episode 24 when she opted to go to Mexico on her own to find the child before it was too late.

If you watch NCIS: Los Angeles online, you know that Hidoko immediately struck a chord with the team and viewers when she first showed up in 2017.

Related: NCIS Los Angeles Season 10 Episode 1 Review: To Live And Die in Mexico

It makes sense then that fans are livid for Bordeaux to be departing the show after such a short time with it.

The actress took to Instagram shortly after the episode aired and released the following statement:

🖤H A R L E Y H I D O K O🖤 *

Thank you all for the love and support. It means the world to me. I'm gonna miss her so much.💔

* I'm so proud to have been a part of the #NCISLA team.

Congrats to the cast and crew on what I'm sure is going to be an amazing 10th season. You all deserve it and many more!

NCIS Departure 1

There have been countless rumors about Bordeaux's future on the hit CBS series since May when she shared another statement on Instagram.

It was essentially a thank you to everyone who made her role on the show come to fruition.

While it was by no means a confirmation, the wording of it certainly seemed like there was some finality.

Have a read for yourself below:

Tonight is the season 9 finale of @ncisla and I just wanted to take a moment to say how grateful, humbled and honored I've been to be a part of this show.

NCIS: Los Angeles Season 10 Episode 2 Review: Superhuman

$

It's not at all clear where things are headed, but it feels like a definite reboot is in the air.

There was also a fairly inept Iron Man knockoff as part of a Bonnie and Clyde pairing on NCIS: Los Angeles Season 10 Episode 2.

Let's touch on the forgettable case of the week later, if Marvel Comics hasn't found a way to sue it out of existence by then.

Retired Navy Admiral Hollace Kilbride - NCIS: Los Angeles

It seems like some kind of change is coming to the Office of Special Projects, and that would start at the top.

It turned out that Admiral Kilbride wasn't just there at Hetty's behest. He was there to shut down the office.

Neither Hetty nor Mosley were seen, so likely the Mexican fiasco was the one off-the-book operation too many.

Related: NCIS: Los Angeles Season 10 Episode 1 Review: To Live And Die In Mexico

Mosley was Hetty's boss (notice I refused to use the term "superior"). The Mexican mess was to rescue her son. So, yes, she should go down in flames.

Will she? Well, she's still in the opening credits. But that could be quickly re-edited.

What about Hetty? Granted, some of the shit her team has pulled through the years wouldn't have been tolerated in the real world. But TV isn't the real world. And, as Kilbride noted, they get results.

The whole Vietnam adventure on NCIS: Los Angeles Season 9 made me wonder if Linda Hunt had had enough and wanted out or if she just wanted a reprieve.

Changes in Ops - NCIS: Los Angeles Season 10 Episode 2

I figured Mosley had been brought in to replace Hetty. But she was such a repugnant character, one who never evolved, so that wasn't going to work out.

Now the start to this season has me mulling this situation again. I mean, Kilbride's big question to Callen is whether the team could survive without Hetty. From that, the direction seems obvious.

So let's explore life without Hetty.

Related: Watch NCIS: Los Angeles Online: Season 10 Episode 1

One possibility would be to put Kilbride in command. I was hoping A.J. Chegwidden would become Hetty's No. 2. But Kilbride does give off that same irascible-curmudgeon vibe as Chegwidden.

It's been fun watching him interact with Eric and Nell in Ops. But we haven't gotten to see him do much with the rest of the team yet.

His driving away before the team gathered at the end makes me think that he's going to be recurring at most.

So if not Mosley, if not Hetty, if not Kilbride, then who?

Lifesaving Technique - NCIS: Los Angeles Season 10 Episode 2

Sam?

Of the existing team members, he would be the most sensible choice. He's the field leader, and he has earned the respect of the entire team.

But his strength is also his weakness. If you take Sam out of the field, it weakens the team in the field,  even though he would still be providing tactical commands.

Related: NCIS: Los Angeles Star Talks About Departure

Also, he wouldn't have the patience for all the bureaucratic bullshit, and they would soon be circumnavigating protocol again, which got them in trouble in the first place. Plus, unlike the past veteran leaders, he doesn't know where all the bodies are buried.

The only upside I see about putting Sam in command is that it would free up room for DeChamps.

Of all the outside substitutes in recent seasons, she would be the best fit for the team. My first choice would be to promote Nell to field agent and give Eric a young helper in Ops. But I don't really want to mess up Neric (Nah, that doesn't work as well as Densi).

Culinary Celebration - NCIS: Los Angeles Season 10 Episode 2

Sam and DeChamps get along swimmingly. They've got a brother-and-sister feel now, but who knows? Maybe that could develop into something more.

So it could be Callen and DeChamps. Or mix things up by pairing boys and girls.

But that's likely a pipe dream. Instead, one of the three leaders listed above will be in command. Please don't let it be Mosley.

Things were moving nicely on the personal front. Eric asked Nell to move in with him when I feared he was about to take an outside job. Densi was again talking wedding details. And Callen was about to take the apartment over their bar. The brawls at Deeks' Dive won't last long, will they?

I'm not sure that Sam and Callen's coffee with Hidoko's mother-in-law was leading anywhere. It was more a people-who-don't-remember-history-are-doomed-to-repeat-it moment, as she brought up the Japanese detainment camps in World War II in a time when innocent people some fear are again being locked up in this country.

Not subtle, but timely nevertheless.

As for the case of the week, let me summarize it. Robocop will soon move from science fiction to science fact. But the technology still requires at least one brain to make it work, not a couple of multiple-time losers.

Is the title soon going to be NCIS: San Diego? Is Callen an ideal tenant? What changes in the team would you like to see?

Who stole the prototype for a tactical assault suit?

That was addressed on NCIS: Los Angeles Season 10 Episode 2 when a jewelry heist was carried out after the prototype was stolen, leading the team to think it was used.

With a variety of targets eyed, the team had to find a way to tell who would be hit next, and how they could find the person responsible.

Meanwhile, Navy Admiral Hollace Kilbride stepped in to look after the team while Hetty and Mosely faced the backlash from the unsanctioned Mexico mission that left one of the team dead.

Who needs an administrator?

As he has in the past when leadership was missing, Callen took the lead on NCIS: Los Angeles Season 10 Episode 3.

That worked out well, even with Joelle popping back up from the dead.

Protection For a Prince - NCIS: Los Angeles

This episode almost made Joelle into a sympathetic figure. And that was a seemingly impossible task, after the way she betrayed Callen.

I mean, he was almost ready to embrace a normal life, when Callen's past was about as far from normal as one could get.

To call their relationship complicated is an understatement. He lied about who he was but then so did she.

Related: NCIS: Los Angeles Season 10 Episode 2 Review: Superhuman

Callen, being the all-around good guy that he is, has bailed her ass out on multiple occasions.

That's especially true on the whole faking-her-death thing on NCIS: Los Angeles Season 9 Episode 9, which she did to protect her family.

Boy, for a 20-year veteran of the CIA, she has really run into some shit in the last few years, hasn't she?

Together Again - NCIS: Los Angeles Season 10 Episode 3

This time out, she was protecting Prince Kamal from a shadowy agency that wanted to assassinate him. There sure are a lot of those organizations out there in TV land, aren't there?

At least the team figured out there was something screwy going on since the assassin was leaving virtually no collateral damage --the prince's decoy wasn't shot, the massage therapist just got tied up, the assassin fled at the first sign of resistance.

And how convenient was it that Callen caught a glimpse of Joelle's face just before she escaped the hotel.

Related: Watch NCIS: Los Angeles Online: Season 10 Episode 2

Then she just turned herself in, which no self-respecting assassin would do. But by that time, the team had a line on her investigation thanks to the flash drive that Deeks and Kensi found.

Callen tried his best to keep Joelle out of the action, by sticking her in Ops with Eric and Nell.

That's where the best two scenes of the night occurred.

First had to be Eric trying to threaten her with the scissors chained to the desk. It's not a real effective weapon, Eric, when the target can escape by taking a step back.

A Change in Plans - NCIS: Los Angeles Season 10 Episode 3

But then, after Joelle cockily said that there was no way they could keep her in Ops, Nell calmly pulled out her gun and placed in on her desk. Subtle, but oh so effective. Don't just bring attitude to a gunfight, Joelle.

This is why Nell is so at home in the field while Eric belongs strictly in Ops. Unless they need an undercover geek, of course. He tries, but he's going to get seriously hurt one of these days out in the field.

Still, Eric and Nell are the cutest couple in the OSP right now. He knows he's lucky to have found someone that accepts his many eccentricities, and it shows in his behavior.

Related: NCIS: Los Angeles Star Talks About Departure

I know this will set off the Densi fans out there. But they've now become that old, getting-married couple. How many seasons is it now for them being romantically entangled?

After many assorted hiccups on NCIS: Los Angeles Season 9, the wedding planning was back on, somewhat in earnest. Or as Nell indelicately put it, "Oh, so you're doing that again?" The poor thing had to back peddle hard then.

Did any of their decisions stick from last year? Besides buying a bar, which at least might make a funky place for their reception. I bet Deeks could come up with a wild signature cocktail, something blue with a surfboard-topped stir stick.

Planning Against - NCIS: Los Angeles Season 10 Episode 3

Sam gave them the best advice about doing things on their own schedule ... within reason.

More on that, I'm sure, for every episode until the ceremony takes place. Or the series gets canceled, whichever happens first.

I understand the ill will between the team and Joelle. She's a sneaky spook who lied to them for years.

But she's largely been on the side of right, unlike many of her CIA colleagues. So why did they suspect she really was trying to kill the prince?

It was a nice if not unexpected touch having the drunken bride and groom actually be the assassination team. That certainly explained why they were on the prince's floor in the first place.

Related: Get CBS All Access via Amazon Channels for Hit Shows, Exclusive Originals & Live TV!

I felt bad that Joelle had to leave her family behind again. I have to think it was to keep them safe, rather than her fear of revealing herself alive to them.

Still, I never understood why she married a civilian and had a child in the first place, considering her dangerous profession. At least Sam married a woman in a similar job, so they together made an informed decision to have a family.

No Hetty, no Mosley. So it was just wheel spinning on that front.

From the preview, it appears Mosley is back on NCIS: Los Angeles Season 10 Episode 4. Let's hope it's just long enough for she and Derrick to go into witness protection. Isn't that where all characters who don't work out or misbehaving actors end up?

To check out the administrative vacuum, watch NCIS: Los Angeles online.

Did you think Joelle was guilty? Should she have gone home? When should Deeks and Kensi get married? Comment below.

Who was trying to kill Deputy Crown Prince Kamal?

That's what Callen and Sam tried to find out on NCIS: Los Angeles Season 10 Episode 3 when a deadly assassin showed up as he attempted to leave his transport.

With multiple questions, the duo tried to find out who would want him dead, and why.

Meanwhile, the team continued to try and process what happened to Hetty following her part in the Mexico trip.

NCIS: Los Angeles Season 10 Episode 4 Review: Hit List

The OSP has battled all kinds of enemies over the years, coming out on top.

Now they have to battle an ambitious special prosecutor on NCIS: Los Angeles Season 10 Episode 4.

Oh, yeah, and also the assassins for a revenge-minded Mexican cartel.

Cartel List - NCIS: Los Angeles

Now the big question will be which one is more dangerous.

Let's address the most pressing concern: Callen being in charge.

Callen being in charge isn't something new, with Hetty's many absences. I was hoping for something new, such as Admiral Kilbride filling in until Hetty returns.

Related: NCIS: Los Angeles Season 10 Episode 3 Review: The Prince

I'd still like there to be a reason for Kilbride to be around regularly. His exchanges with the Meerkats in Ops are priceless.

A little shakeup can be a good thing. Or a bad thing (See NCIS: Los Angeles Season 9 for the most glaring example).

Speaking of Mosley, she was back, hopefully for one of the last times. I'm still pushing for Witness Protection, but you know it won't be that easy.

Sam was correct when, despite being sympathetic, he pointed out that Mosley made this mess and was going to have to be the one to clean it up for everyone.

On the Waterfront - NCIS: Los Angeles Season 10 Episode 4

The big unanswered question is whether whatever deal she made with Rogers will save everyone or just herself and Derrick. I'd like to think the former, but I just can't be sure.

I still don't get why Rogers' investigation of the Mexico mission extends anywhere beyond Mosley. Yes, she was justified in wanting to rescue her abducted son. But she attempted that oh so badly. A solid new character in Hidoko got killed off, and the OSP team got badly injured.

Unfortunately, it got handed to a prosecutor looking to make a name for himself. So it's going to get blown up to ridiculous proportions, I'm afraid.

Related: Watch NCIS: Los Angeles Online: Season 10 Episode 3

That seems to be a running theme in the NCIS franchise (hell, any police drama): bureaucrats and politicians getting in the way of law enforcers trying to keep people safe from harm. Sure, such types are easy targets for overly simplifying complex situations.

It was obvious that Ochoa didn't like Rogers and Kilbride held him in utter disdain. It was easy to see why, when he acted disapprovingly of the team killing off four cartel assassins. Their action was like the old joke about lawyers: That's a good start.

The best scene of the episode when Rogers tried to interrogate Eric but kept jumping at all the noises around him, which Kilbride definitely facilitated. I don't ever remember the gym being that busy.

I wonder when Deeks' law background will make an appearance in this storyline. He's out of practice but that knowledge may yet come in handy.

Fight Club - NCIS: Los Angeles Season 10 Episode 4

One thing that's for certain is that Hetty won't be bailing out her squad anytime soon.

It's impossible to say what role Linda Hunt's car accident has played in Hetty's absence. Since she missed a good chunk of last season as well, the 73-year-old Hunt may just want to lighten her workload somewhat.

But fans will take whatever amount of Hetty they can get. The team just can't expect Hetty to come to their rescue yet again. That's been done too many times.

Related: NCIS: Los Angeles Star Talks About Departure

Rogers has to be considered a legitimate threat, however. Mexico isn't the OSP's first off-the-book mission (or even the first that season), so he'll have no trouble finding ammunition to use against them.

But then, Rogers likely has skeletons in his closet as well. There's where Hetty would come in really handy. Has she trained Nell well enough in that type of intelligence gathering?

Back in Ops - NCIS: Los Angeles Season 10 Episode 4

The other question is how big a threat is the bounty placed on them by the Mexican drug cartel?

With all the people they've put away, the possibility of being a target is nothing new. They're used to looking over their shoulders. All are single, and Sam's children are away at school.

So they'll need to be aware, but not paranoid.

Mosley needs to disappear with Derrick. You know, like Hotch did with Jack on Criminal Minds.

Related: Get CBS All Access via Amazon Channels for Hit Shows, Exclusive Originals & Live TV!

That would give a noble end to a failed character. And end our national nightmare. (Hyperbole much?)

So the questions generated by the episode are:

  • How long until Mosley leaves?

  • How long until Hetty returns?

  • How long will the Rogers and cartel storylines linger?

At least with all the activity, we were only subjected to one Densi wedding-planning scene. We get it. They're back on track, as much as they ever were. No one's going to think they've broken up if there isn't one such scene in every episode.

To catch up on the rotating leadership, watch NCIS: Los Angeles online.

Which are you more concerned with, the prosecutor or the bounty? WWMD? Should Otis become a regular?

Meanwhile, NCIS Deputy Director Louis Ochoa arrived with Special Prosecutor John Rogers in order to learn everything about Mosley's off-the-books mission to Mexico.

CBS Cheat Sheet: Is Criminal Minds Really in Danger?!

With the 2018-19 TV season well underway, it's time to take a look at how the new and returning series are performing and their odds at being renewed for the 2019-20 season.

Most shows on CBS are on the downside year-to-year, and that could give some of the more marginal shows a fighting chance at garnering a reprieve.

Related: 27 Of the Most Seductive Serial Killers on TV

Even Criminal Minds which was expected to conclude with a truncated season might snag another short order, but there's also the possibility that the network changes focus and lets it go.

Have a look at how the CBS shows stack up and hit the comments with your thoughts.

1. The Big Bang Theory - Ending

The perfect gift the big bang theory
The Big Bang Theory will wrap up in May 2019 at the close of its twelfth season.

Season to date, it is averaging 12.5 million total viewers and a 2.3 rating in the demo. It's down in the ratings, but could have continued for several more years if the powers that be wanted to keep it around.

It's still a strong performer on the DVR front, with the demo tally swelling by over 70 percent with a week's worth of DVR factored in.

2. Young Sheldon - Certain Renewal

Research project young sheldon
Young Sheldon is down over 20 percent in the demo this season, but 10.7 million viewers and a 1.7 rating is a fantastic result for any show.

With The Big Bang Theory ending, it will likely become the network's highest-rated series. It will be around for a long time.

3. NCIS - Certain Renewal

Starstruck ncis
NCIS is showing stability this season. Currently averaging 12.2 million total viewers and a 1.4 rating, it is right on par with last season's average.

It surges more than 50 percent in the demo with seven days of DVR factored in. Even if some of the cast members want out, CBS will not want to part with the show quite yet.

4. Mom - Certain Renewal

Quitting gamblers anonymous mom
Mom has always been a reliable performer for CBS. With 8 million total viewers and a 1.3 rating in the demo, it's still very safe.

5. The Neighborhood - Likely Renewal

Neighborhood 1
The Neighborhood has been a consistent performer since it debuted earlier this month. Averaging 7 million total viewers and a 1.2 rating, CBS has already rewarded it with a full season order.

Barring a midseason collapse, it should be back for the 2019-2020 season.

6. FBI - Likely Renewal

Oa and maggie stay low fbi s1e4
This freshman drama is averaging 9.5 million viewers and a 1.1 rating. The show is adding almost 60 percent to the demo rating within seven days, so that's a major positive. If it can stop the week-to-week bleeding, it should be safe.

NCIS: Los Angeles Season 10 Episode 5 Review: Pro Se

Remember how those in the OSP were going to behave since everyone is looking over their shoulders this season?

That didn't even last one episode, as Callen and company got involved with another off-the-books adventure on NCIS: Los Angeles Season 10 Episode 5.

All Smiles - NCIS: Los Angeles

Well, off the books is a little strong. More like under the table.

It was another blast from the past. Tiffany Williams, last seen on NCIS: Los Angeles Season 7 Episode 10, while working undercover for NCIS.

This was another of those occasional episodes when we're reminded that Deeks is more than golden locks, dimples, and a pretty smile. He got to do more than be comic relief, which was a nice change of pace.

Related: NCIS: Los Angeles Season 10 Episode 4 Review: Hit List

Deeks has long felt responsible for Tiffany, and he may have gotten her in trouble by using her as an undercover informant connected to Phillip Robbins, a slimeball who was stealing state secrets and who used to be one of Tiffany's johns.

I mean, that was a great idea, up until the time Tiffany got busted for drugs, then prostitution.

That should have been a sign that Robbins was onto her, and her role should have been revealed then, even if it would put a kink in the investigation. It beats her going to jail for trying to do the right thing.

Change in Plans - NCIS: Los Angeles Season 10 Episode 5

At least the powers that be are getting back to what works: the four field agents and the pair in Ops solving cases with a minimal amount of adult supervision.

Conveniently, Mosley was gone (but sadly not GONE), Hetty was MIA, Deputy Director Ochoa and Admiral Kilbride were back in DC and Special Prosecutor Rogers had been driven away by OSP inhospitality. In other words, nobody there to say no to this episode's outrageous scheme (calling it a plan is too generous),

Easy peasy. Let's replace the buffoon that Robbins hired to represent Tiffany with ... Callen. Yup, Callen in a suit.

Related: Watch NCIS: Los Angeles Online: Season 10 Episode 4

I understand that Deeks was known as an LAPD officer attached to NCIS and that having him as Tiffany's lawyer might endanger her undercover status. But if Robbins set her up, hasn't she already been revealed? Did I miss something there?

So instead we got the funny scenes of Callen being abused by the judge at least until Deeks as Cyrano fed him arguments from the taco truck. So that worked out, as Callen got her bail, then Callen, Deeks, and Whiting got the charges dismissed.

As always, it was enjoyable watching Deeks and Whiting continue their tolerate-hate relationship. You have to wonder if she was an old, drunk, male Irish cop in an earlier life because she still acts like one now.

Fledgling Lawyer - NCIS: Los Angeles Season 10 Episode 5

But at least she can be cajoled to do the right thing. She didn't tell everything she knew, but Deeks was able to get her to confirm his hunches, which moved along the investigation.

Kensi is very secure in her relationship with Deeks, as she didn't object to his involving and then attempting to rescue the hot, young, blonde ex-hooker. She even went undercover at the jail to fill in Tiffany on the "plan."  I guess she just chalked Tiffany up as another stray Deeks was trying to save.

Related: NCIS: Los Angeles Star Talks About Departure

She knows how softhearted and well-meaning Deeks is and loves him for it, even if he makes some boneheaded moves along the way (hello, bar!)

Another humorous scene was Nell being a step ahead of Callen about his undercover role. He's not the only one Hetty has been grooming, indeed. Could Nell actually take over as leader, someday sooner rather than later? I'd vote for that so that Callen could stay focused as a field agent.

Protecting Tiffany - NCIS: Los Angeles Season 10 Episode 5

I still don't get why Robbins and the security team he bought off from Vivid Lock headed to Tiffany's courthouse. Was he just feeling betrayed, or did she actually have enough information to incriminate him?

The smart move would be to go into hiding until he could unload the anti-ballistic program he had just stolen. Walking into a building filled with cops and agents, even with his own muscle, was not the way to go.

The whole Anna-and-Callen situation was very uncomfortable. I assumed he'd backed up her story all the way, but apparently not. Her getting arrested at the end hints that storyline is nowhere near done.

SPOILER ALERT: Maybe (although this is probably wishful thinking) the Mosley storyline may be wrapping up, as NCIS: Los Angeles Season 10 Episode 6 appears to be addressing that bounty on her head. Oh, boy, it appears the team is back to cleaning up another of her messes.

NCIS: Los Angeles Season 10 Episode 6 Review: Asesinos

Well, that was easy.

Sadly, Mosley hasn't gone yet, but Rogers was after NCIS: Los Angeles Season 10 Episode 6.

So that's one win, anyway.

Off the Grid - NCIS: Los Angeles

If nothing else, this episode proved why Mosley shouldn't be part of a team.

It isn't just her bossy, abrasive personality.

It's also her total inability to communicate. She chose to cut herself off from the resources of NCIS, to go it alone against a Mexican cartel that put a bounty on the heads of her and her son.

Related: NCIS: Los Angeles Season 10 Episode 5 Review: Pro Se

Not entirely alone, mind you, but I'll get back to Turk later.

The opening scene showed why it was a bad idea to piss off Mosley, as she ultimately the crap out of that assassin with just tchotchkes from a hotel room. In a bathrobe, no less.

Channel that rage and send her back out into the field.

Her staying out of touch gave her former (?) team deniability, but that also meant they got blindsided by the BOLO for her after the dead assassin was found.

On Her Own - NCIS: Los Angeles Season 10 Episode 6

And, of course, they were going to help her, even if they had no idea what she was planning. That meant a lot of getting shot at when they misconstrued what she was doing. Also, they were stepping all over what she was trying to do, purely by accident.

It was a devious plan that Turk devised. Pit the two rival schisms of the cartel against each other, as Mosley offers as bait falsified information about the OSP team. Get them in the same isolated patch of forest, and, of course, they started shooting at each other.

Wasn't it convenient that Ochoa showed up just in time to give them the history of that particular drug cartel? They all looked amazed that a suit had actionable intel for them.

Related: Watch NCIS: Los Angeles Online: Season 10 Episode 5

At least Ochoa steps back and lets them do their thing, as long as they color somewhat within the lines.

I was glad to see that Turk, and especially his dog, survived the fiasco that was NCIS: Los Angeles Season 10 Episode 1.  So now he's in L.A. as well. That's great, as he's available to recur, although, like Mosley, I don't suspect he generally plays well with others.

I should have guessed that they were working together when Turk offered Mosley a beer when it appeared she was holding him at gunpoint.

The upshot of this storyline is that the tension between the cartel branches is bubbling over, thanks to Mosley and Turk. This should give her a chance to determine her next move from hiding, beyond picking up Derrick. Running with a young child can't be her end game. But this should keep her out from under foot for a time.

Back in Charge - NCIS: Los Angeles Season 10 Episode 6

This was a particularly good episode for bantering between Sam and Callen (that's as opposed to bickering such as McGarrett and Danny do on Hawaii Five-0. Both bromances but different forms of communication).

First came the boatshed meeting, when Sam climbed up from the water. It made perfect sense that he had swum to work after having his buddy Tom take his boat and Derrick someplace safe that Sam wouldn't know about.

Related: NCIS: Los Angeles Star Talks About Departure

Callen seemed offended that Sam was dripping in his boatshed. At least Callen confirmed that he was moving into the apartment over Deeks' bar, after some renovations. What's he doing? Moving out all the furniture?

And who else shook their head when Sam drove his on-fire car into a convenient nearby car wash?

Then there was the bug-drone competition. After Sam and Callen had ruined all but one of the expensive, experimental drones, Eric took over to show them how to work a joystick.

Returning to Action - NCIS: Los Angeles Season 10 Episode 6

I also want to know more about that Korean nail salon that Mosley went to for medical treatment, where all the technicians were armed. That was too good a setup for just one scene.

It appears that Eric and Nell living together is going to require an adjustment period, as she apparently mistook his "ant colony" and "sea monkeys" as pests. I'm sure it will get reinforced that she's the mature member of that pairing, just like with Kensi and Deeks.

Related: Get CBS All Access via Amazon Channels for Hit Shows, Exclusive Originals & Live TV!

Speaking of the motor-mouthed surf god, Deeks put his peculiar talent to work, spitting out an endless stream of bullshit to the point that Rogers gave up. It's good to see him use his powers for good every now and then, or as Callen called it, "unleashing the beast."

Then, when the entire squad told exactly the same story, Rogers gave up and exonerated the entire team and Hetty, especially since Mosley claimed responsibility, and fled back to Washington. I had to laugh when Deeks chased him with a Wilsonesque "Bye, neighbor!"

Now that Rogers is gone and Mosley is in the wind, perhaps we can get back to cases of the week, except with a revolving door for authority figures.

To catch up on a busy new season, watch NCIS: Los Angeles online.

When did you figure out what Mosley was up to? Were you glad to see Turk, or at least his dog, again? Which couple did you enjoy most this episode (Deeks/Kensi, Nell/Eric, Sam/Callen)?
